Who Dat??

So I just returned from a weekend in New Orleans where I celebrated my 35th birthday. I was lucky enough to have my sister, Wendy and Maria join me for what was a great time. To add to the craziness, the NFC Divisional Playoff game between the Eagles and the Saints was being held at the Superdome on Saturday night. Whoever schedules these games was treading on thin ice with this one - who was to say if any Saints fans would be still able to stand up after drinking for 6+ hours? Thankfully, the Saints pulled through and as a result, the crowds were crazy and made for a great evening.

I had one of the best meals of my life this weekend at Nola's which is where we went for dinner for my birthday. Great food, even better service and a fun atmosphere. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind dropping a few bucks on a fab meal. As for the other places to eat in Nawlins, practice patience as most places are short-staffed and those who are working there are barely working.

So what have I learned in my 35 years on this planet? Apparently not much. I still drank too much on my birthday, I still let my little sister upset me when she was bratty, and I still get annoyed when I have a minor delay at the airport. What I have learned is while I'm getting older, there's a definite need to take charge of my life and to be satisfied with the way my life is going. I have a good job, great friends and all in all a pretty nice life. What I am going to do this upcoming year is get back to the gym so that I can feel better about myself and you never know what will come with that. It's been a pretty crazy year so far; I'm looking forward to it slowing down a little for the next few weeks until I'm off to Puerto Rico for 6 days.
I'll probably post something else soon, something more pithy and appropos of nothing. One great thing though: my sister's flight from New Orleans was really booked but at least she got to see Kimora Lee Simmons get thrown up on by some drunk woman. Priceless.
